TRUE SIOUX HOPE FOUNDATION’S FIRST FUNDRAISING RECEPTION

On March 25, 2015, True Sioux Hope Foundation welcomed guests at Newport Coast’s Tamarind of London, an elevated Indian dining experience that pays homage to India’s flavorful traditional favorites while artfully integrating California’s robust selection of seasonal, fresh and sustainable ingredients in every dish.

True Sioux Hope Foundation invited Orange County community members to join in support of its mission to help an entire Native American population living in conditions equivalent to those found in the poorest third-world countries. The Sioux Tribe of Pine Ridge Reservation has an average annual household income of $3,500, a 90 percent unemployment rate, 70 percent high school dropout rate, a life expectancy of only 47 years for men, and the highest infant mortality rate in North America.

At the reception, Lakota Sioux Tribe member and the founder of True Sioux Hope Foundation, Twila True, presented her vision for the foundation to make an impactful change for the Lakota Sioux Tribe in South Dakota. True Sioux Hope Foundation has identified three key pillars to inspire unprecedented, permanent, positive change: sustainability, education and immediate assistance. Having spent her formative years on reservations, True knows first-hand the courage that it takes to become a strong, independent, modern American Indian.
